COTTON USA launches "COTTON USA Design Challenge 2008" a test for emerging designers to create a design under the concept "Passion of Love" for a chance to win a New York Inspiration Trip to the United States of America, together with their Advisory Professor. To gain unique learning experience on world-class fashion designs.

Details of the Competition
Participants must incorporate the "Passion of Love" concept in their design and explanation. To be submitted together with their application and portfolio for the judges to consider in the first round. Selected participants will undergo an Audition step with a panel of judges by presenting their Conceptual Idea under the concept "Passion of Love".  Short listed participants will take part in the project's activities. After which, only 5 participants will be selected.

Qualification of Participant
1. Participants must be university students.
2. Participants must not belong to any couture boutique nor have designed for any apparel producers.
3. Participants must submit their design on the day, time and place specified and are required to participate in all specified activities. In the case that the participant is unable to join the activity. His/her right will be forfeited.
4. Participants must agree to the rules and regulations of the competition and the decision made, by the manager or panel of judges, is final.

Competition Rounds and Procedures
February 25th - May 12th 2008.
Submit all relevant documents and designs, together with Portfolio, Conceptual Idea and Explanation under the "Passion of Love" concept.
April 29th 2008
Seminar: To walk through the details of the competition with the interested designers.
Round 1: Screening (16th May 2008)
Screen process will be conducted by a panel of judges on individual's 'Conceptual Idea' and 'Portfolio'. Selected candidates will go on to the Audition round.           
Round 2: Audition (20th May 2008)
Candidates will have an opportunity to present their work to the panel of judges. Candidates will then wait for the judge's decision to be announced.                         
Round 3: Designer Camp (23rd - 24th May 2008)
Only selected candidates will participate in the CDC Camp
Round 4: Model Brief (6th June 2008)
Final screening. Only 5 participants will be selected for the final rounds. New criteria will be given to the selected participants.
Round 5: Sketch Design Presentation (13th June 2008)
Participants will present their sketch designs and their inspiration under the "Passion of Love" concept.
Round 6: Shopping Challenge (19th June 2008)
All 5 finalists will display their skills in choosing the raw materials for their design under the new criteria.
Round 7: Final Round (1st August 2008)
Finalists will individually present their designs in front of the judges, as well as, give explanation on their inspiration. The judges' decision will be announced.  
Round 8: Fashion Show (7th August 208)
Fashion Show and Award giving ceremony.

• Copy of Identification card and Student Identification.
• One 2 inch photo
• Copy of house registration
• Application form - all relevant information filled out including details of Advisory Professor (Names, Address, Telephone number and email)
• Written conceptual idea under the concept "Passion of Love" on a white paper (10x15 inches) and Portfolio.
